Velcro sanding sheets

Also known as hook-and-loop sanding sheets, velcro sanding sheets are designed to attach to machinery with ease. This is a common fitting for orbital sanders and disc sanders, making switching out the sandpaper as required a straightforward process. They are often made from aluminium oxide which is excellent for general purpose sanding on wood, paint, and metal.

Plain-backed paper sanding sheets

If you are looking for a thin and lightweight abrasive sheet, plain-backed paper sanding sheets are the one for you. Designed for use with orbital sanders, they can also be cut down to size for other tools. With packs of 50 and 100 sheets to choose from and grits from P40 to P600, you can get the finished result you have been looking for.

Plain-backed cloth sanding sheets

Abrasive sheets undergo a lot of friction and pressure, which makes tears a likely occurrence. Our plain-backed cloth sanding sheets are more durable and resistant to tearing, giving them a longer lifespan. They are especially useful for sanding contoured surfaces as they can easily bend and flex to follow the natural curves of the materials.

Foam-backed sanding sheets

For difficult to reach details, foam-backed sanding sheets are perfect. These abrasive sheets will finish your product and provide the smooth surface required for staining, painting and more. They are often used in manual hand sanding to give you greater control and can be used for both wet and dry sanding.

Abrasive cloth sheets

Sometimes referred to as emery cloth or emergy sheets, our range of abrasive cloth sheets can be used to sand metal, paint, and wood. Typically made from aluminium oxide, this abrasive will sharper itself as time goes on to give you a longer lasting product, and comes in various grits and sizes to suit your needs.

FAQs

How do I find the sanding sheet grit grade I need?

As a general rule, the higher the number, the smoother the finish. A P40 grit will be extremely coarse and ideal for removing and imperfections on the surface. A P600 grit is best for finishing your project and creating the smooth surface for staining or painting.

What size abrasive sheets are available?

Abrasive sheets are available in numerous different sizes to suit your project needs. From 70mm x 125mm to 230mm x 280 mm, you can find what you are looking for. At BND Abrasives, we also offer custom sanding sheet sizes for those moments when you have specialist needs, so contact the team today for a quote.

Why do some sanding sheets have holes in them?

The holes in sanding sheets are there for a specific reason, and that is to stop the dust and debris from clogging the surface of the sandpaper. As the dust collects on the surface of the sandpaper, it creates a barrier between the paper and the surface you wish to sand, reducing the effectiveness.

When is wet sanding better than dry sanding?

Dry sanding is better if you need to remove more material or create a smooth surface quickly. Wet sanding is ideal if you want a smoother finish and a less abrasive result. However, not all sanding sheets can be used when wet and dry, so check with your chosen manufacturer to ensure you have the right product for your needs.
